Relationship between the mosquito specific richness and the land surface. The number of mosquito species plotted against the land surface per country (data sources are in Additional file2). The granitic and coralline Seychelles are considered separately. Correlation coefficient is 0.981 and 0.965 for Anophelinae and Culicinae, respectively (p < 10-4 in both cases).
