  2. SCW-41Ta is a type strain of Borrelia americana and represents subgroup A (ATCC BAA-1877; DSM 22541).
  3. SCW-33b represents B. americana subgroup B.
  4. 176c -unique allele numbers of housekeeping genes in MLST database. Strain allelic profile is a composition of 8 numbers presented in a single row. Marked in bold are values that are below or equal to a cut-off value of 0.170 determined for the MLST scheme based on eight chromosomally located housekeeping genes [26].
