Figure 5

Phylogenetic analyses of PRAC-like protein sequences of prokaryotes and eukaryotes, from the NR NCBI database, and Try PRAC sequences. (A), ML analysis including 2,530 PRAC-like sequences with the best substitution model WAG + G. Bootstrap supports (100 pseudoreplicates) are displayed at nodes (only support of 50 or greater shown) in the phylogenetic tree, corresponding rectangular phylogram is showed in Additional file 5. The dotted line in (A) indicates the branch submitted to the reanalysis shown in Figure 5B. (B) ML inference restricted to TryPRAC (39 trypanosome species/isolates) plus 303 bacterial genes nearest relatives to TryPRAC homologs showing, closest to TryPRAC sequences, Firmicutes PRAC genes from species of Gemella, other bacteria of Bacilli class, and species of Clostridia class. The PRAC-like gene sequences employed in the phylogenetic analysis showed in Figures 5A and 5B are listed in Additional files 6 and 7, respectively.
