Numbers on the arrows are standardized path coefficients, representing the relative strength of the given effect (β/SE), which is also reflected by the arrow width. a–d illustrate the directions of the most influential (|β/SE| > 1) direct effects. The dashed arrow represents a relationship that is included in the second best model in addition to the relationships included in model 12 (model 14 in Additional file 1: Table S1)
