Composite of melting curves obtained with the generic Ehrlichia FRET-qPCR performed on various Ehrlichia species. The nucleotide mismatches between amplicons of the various species and the LCRed-640 probe we designed (Fig. 1) enabled us to distinguish four groups of Ehrlichia based on their previously determined T _m: Panola Mountain Ehrlichia ~65.5 °C (green line); E. canis, E. muris, E. ovina and Ehrlichia sp. BOV2010/Ehrlichia sp. UMFG-EV ~62.0 °C (blue line); E. chaffeensis and E. ewingii (red line) ~57.6 °C; E. ruminantium ~55.8 °C (black line). No amplification peak was seen with A. marginale DNA (grey line)
