Comparison of hemoglobin uptake throughout the life-cycle stages of the parasite. The lysosomal accumulation of free-HbA488, free-HpA488 or HpA488 Hb complex was examined throughout the stages of the TcIL3000 life-cycle. The green, blue and red signals indicate Alexa 488-labelled proteins, DNA (nucleus and kinetoplast) and the endocytic compartment (flagellar pocket and lysosome), respectively. The arrows indicate the accumulation of free-HbA488 in the endocytic compartment in EMFs
