Cytoplasmic bridge. a The outer syncytial layer located externally to the basal lamina covers whole diplozoon body. The inner nucleated bodies and outer syncytial layer are interconnected by the cytoplasmic bridge. b Cytoplasmic bridge in detail. The bridge is delimited by the basal lamina and filled with cytoplasm. Numerous muscle fibers and mitochondria are located proximally to the basal lamina. The cytoplasm of external syncytial layer is filled mainly by numerous different granules.
