ESP induce the expressions of IL-1β and IL-6 via the Shh pathway. Western blot analysis of IL-1β (a) and IL-6 (b) in astrocytes co-cultured with ESP alone or pretreated with a recombinant Sonic hedgehog peptide from mouse (Shh) (3 μg), cyclopamine (20 μM) or SAG for 2 h and then with 500 μg/ml ESP for 4 h. β-actin is shown as a control. Data are expressed as the mean ± SD from three independent experiments (**P < 0.01).
