Serum samples were tested for the presence of heartworm antigen monthly pre- and post-heat-treatment. The optical density for both samples was read at 490 nm. The optical density reading for the 8 dogs in the IMD + MOX and doxycycline treated group differed between those dogs in which adult heartworms were recovered at necropsy and those dogs in which no adult heartworms were recovered. For dogs in the treated group in which adult heartworms were recovered, the optical density using the DiroCHEK tested higher than those treated dogs in which no adult heartworms were recovered
