Modified WHO tunnel to test the repellency of ITNs during the experiment with P. falciparum infecting An. arabiensis. Mosquitoes were placed in the released chamber and allowed to fly in the direction of the stimulus chamber where KT put one of his feet (protected by chiffon with 150 μm mesh). They had to pass through an opening made with cardboard with a rectangular hole of 8 × 12 cm to be considered as responsive, and then could pass through a net with holes to approach KT’s foot if they were not repelled. The arrows represent an example route for mosquitoes to go to the stimulus chamber
