Aedes aegypti cecropins neutralized LPS. E. coli LPS (5 endotoxin units/ml) was incubated with 20 μM of individual AeaeCec1-5 or their mixtures (4 μM each), vehicle (PBS), cecropin-TY1(CTY) or scrambled cecropin-TY1 (sCTY) as control peptide [25] at 37°C.
