Aedes aegypti cecropins neutralized LPS. E. coli LPS (5 endotoxin units/ml) was incubated with 20 μM of individual AeaeCec1-5 or their mixtures (4 μM each), vehicle (PBS), cecropin-TY1(CTY) or scrambled cecropin-TY1 (sCTY) as control peptide [25] at 37°C. The LPS-neutralization activity was evaluated using an endotoxin quantification kit. Data are presented as mean ± SEM from three independent experiments. *P < 0.05, **P < 0.01
