Nitric oxide quantification. Male Wistar rats were infected with T. cruzi and treated for 14 days with ghrelin. On day 15 post-infection, the animals were euthanized and the peritoneal exudate collected. Peritoneal cells (1 × 106 cells/ml) were incubated with LPS for 48 h and the nitric oxide measured by Griess method, using serial dilutions of sodium nitrite as a reference.
