Western blotting results of lung and spleen tissues in P. berghei ANKA-infected mice with or without α-lactose treatment. (ah) BAX and cleaved-Caspase 3 levels in mouse spleens (ad) and lungs (eh) were detected in Western blotting assays. β-actin was used as the control. Corresponding bands were scanned, and the optical density of the BAX or cleaved-caspase 3 bands were normalized by that of the β-actin band. The results are representative of three independent experiments with five to seven mice in each group per experiment, with data denoting means ± SDs. *P < 0.05, **P < 0.01, ***P < 0.001
