Viability of adult S. mansoni parasites ex vivo following exposure to H1-antihistamine drugs. Adult parasites were collected from the hepatic portal and mesenteric veins of mice and placed on plates containing the indicated concentrations of H1-antihistamines. Parasites were monitored for up to 72 h using a microscope and results are expressed as the percent mortality recorded by Kaplan-Meier survival curves. Mean values of viability were derived from a minimum of three experiments (n = 3), and each experiment was performed with five replicates. LC50 values were determined at 72 h.
