Phylogenetic analysis of Argonaute proteins (Ago1, Ago2) from D. gallinae and other arthropods. All D. gallinae sequences are available at ORCAE using the DEGAL accession numbers shown in the tree. The species and accession number of all other sequences are shown in Additional file 1: Table S1. All protein sequences were aligned using MUSCLE, and phylogenies were reconstructed using maximum-likelihood methods with a LG+G substitution model. Bootstrap support values > 0.6 from 1000 replicates are shown at each major node. Scale bar represents 0.3 substitutions per amino acid site. D. gallinae Argonaute genes that are located on the same genomic scaffold are indicated by a superscript letter
