The DIN values range from years 2006 to 2018, whereas the beech tree mast scores 2 years prior range from years 2004 to 2016. Years of high seed production by beech trees 2 years prior were associated with high DIN values. Beech tree mast scores of 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 refer to very poor mast, poor mast, moderate mast, good mast, and full mast, respectively
