Molecular phylogenetic analysis of A. phagocytophilum mdh gene sequences. The evolutionary history was inferred using the maximum likelihood method based on the Hasegawa-Kishino-Yano model. The tree with the highest log likelihood (− 1159.3952) is shown. The percentage of trees in which the associated taxa clustered together is shown next to the branches. The tree is drawn to scale, with branch lengths measured in the number of substitutions per site. All positions containing gaps and missing data were eliminated. There were a total of 387 positions in the final dataset. Bootstrap values < 50% were omitted. A. phagocytophilum isolates from this study were indicated by black triangles
