The density of sheep farms in the UK weighted by the number of contiguous farms. The darker the shading, the higher the density of farms and the higher the number of connections. Data on the locations of farms and number of sheep per farm were provided by the Animal and Plant Health Agency, and kernel density methods were used with search radius of 10 km, a quartic kernel shape with 1-km2 pixel grids and colour shades determined by quantile. Only sheep holdings considered to be permanent animal residences were included
