Fig. 7From: Role of the RNA-binding protein ZC3H41 in the regulation of ribosomal protein messenger RNAs in trypanosomesEffect of ZC3H41 or Z41AP depletion on the levels of different ribosomal RNAs (rRNAs). Total RNA was extracted from uninduced and ZC3H41- or Z41AP-depleted cells, and the levels of the indicated rRNA species (transcribed by RNA polymerase I or III, as indicated) were assayed by quantitative RT-PCR. Fold changes (log2 converted) relative to uninduced cells are expressed as the mean (horizontal solid lines) ± SEM (shaded areas) of five independent RNAi inductions (dots). The horizontal dashed line indicates log2 = 0, i.e. no change in gene expression. Two-sided Student’s t-tests (n = 5) were used to assess whether rRNA levels were significantly altered upon depletion of ZC3H41 or Z41AP. * P < 0.05, ** P < 0.005; differences in large subunit, small subunit and 5.8S levels were found to be not significant (P > 0.19 in all cases).
