Detection of translocation of phosphatidylserine to the outer surface of the plasma membrane. P. berghei ookinetes were subjected to an Annexin V assay. Live ookinetes do not label with annexin V, whilst the outer margin of apoptotic ookinetes appears green under FITC filter. A and B are the same field of view, taken under bright field and FITC filter respectively.
