Isolation procedures of larvicidal principles. The Millettia pinnata seed methanol extract was sequentially partitioned into hexane-, chloroform-, ethyl acetate-, butanol-, and water-soluble portions. For isolation of active principles from the chloroform-soluble fraction (A) and hexane-soluble fraction (B), 50 mg/L of each M. pinnata seed-derived material was tested in a direct-contact mortality bioassay toward third instar larvae from Culex pipiens pallens and Aedes aegypti.
