Location of the study area and the spatial distribution of survey data. Poyang Lake is situated in the northern part of Jiangxi Province and near the southern bank of the middle and lower reaches of River Yangtze. This study covers the core region surrounding the lake with about 18 endemic counties including 1374 endemic administrative villages.
