Enteromyxum leei-exposed non-infected fish show an intermediate phenotype at a local level. Heatmaps depicting the differential expression of all studied genes in the different tissues. Average expression values of the 10 control unexposed (CTRL) fish, the 3 recipient (RCPT) fish that were negative for the parasite (RCPT−) and the 7 RCPT fish that scored positive for the parasite (RCPT+) were used to construct the heatmaps. Values are centred and scaled per row. Thus, the different colours show the standard deviations from the mean per row (row Z-score). Different letters indicate statistical differences in expression when comparing the three groups by ANOVA (P < 0.05)
