ATF6 and EIF2 are unfolded protein response related sensor genes while selenoK and selenoS are components of the ERAD complex involved in ER stress mitigation through the ERAD pathway. Gene expression of the mentioned genes was normalized with that of clean tick midgut gene expression (indicated as 1 on the y-axis). Statistically significant gene expression values (P < 0.05) are indicated with * (asterisk). Rps4 was used as a housekeeping gene.
