Woodland and residential stations on Masig Island, Torres Strait, Queensland, Australia where the field experiments were carried out. Note that the stations were at least 100 m apart (see Additional file 1: Table S1 for coordinates of each station and distance to either the front or back door of the nearest inhabited dwelling). Inset The satellite imagery shows northern Australia, the Torres Strait Islands and southern Papua New Guinea. The red rectangle indicates the location of Masig Island. The map was produced in QGIS with the World Geodetic System 1984 projection and the World Imagery (2020) layer.
