Flowchart of the experimental design. The first line provides information on the composition of the Trypanosoma cruzi infection (pure and mixed) of fifth-instar nymphs of two species of Rhodnius. Following infection, susceptibility to infection and vector competence were evaluated through tests, which provided different parameters of the different biological materials (blue boxes) on different dpi (red box).
