Among the susceptible, two subclades, TEP1*S1 (green) and TEP1*S2 (blue), appear to be evolving independently of each other. Among the refractory alleles, TEP1*R1 (yellow) and TEP1*R2 (pink) are closely related, with TEP1*R1 forming a subclade nested within TEP1*R2. TEP1*R3 (grey) is restricted to An. merus
